The new Ye Tsanou Lodge of Iguéla is waiting for you!

The new Ye Tsanou Lodge – the main base for visiting and activities in the Loango National Park managed by Operation Loango, is henceforth completely renovated.
Ten bungalows, including three suites, beautifully decorated with local materials, have built-in private bathrooms with hot water, are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans, and also have a small terrace. The magnificent dining hall pavilion looks over the lagoon and faces the park.

Whale

A large terrace overlooking the lagoon allows you to relax and admire the sunsets while having a drink.
Below the terrace there is a floating bar - another place to relax, original in that it’s surrounded by water.

Soon the whale season!
From the beginning of July to the end of September each year, we estimate from 2,000 to 3,000 humpback whales pass by the southern coast of Gabon. This is probably a reproduction zone, since the whales stay in the region and have quite sociable behaviour.

The humpback whales (megapteres) are among the most spectacular of the ocean mammals. They are from 12 to 16 meters long and weigh from 25 to 35 tons. In spite of its huge size, they are capable of jumping sometimes completely out of the water with unimaginable grace.

WCS researchers have been studying them since 1999, recording their sounds and taking samples from their skin, thereby allowing them perhaps to locate the same whales at another point of the planet, and being able to see the trail of their migrations. The WCS researchers are co-operating with Operation Loango in Iguéla, and on board a big zodiac hydro-jet which is easy to direct and safe, they allow visitors to take advantage of their experience.
