| This
is an eight-day tour in one of the biggest national parks in Central
Africa. You will be welcomed upon your arrival at the Libreville Airport,
and transferred to your hotel. The next day you will take the train
to the Lopé National Park following along the magnificent Ogooué
Valley, and you can then check into the Lopé Hotel, at the foot
of Mount Brazza.
The park tours are done in a 4-wheel drive vehicles, looking for the
red buffalo and elephant herds, antelopes, wild boars, and birds, and
on foot paths allowing the hiker to see the small mammals and monkeys.

The Mikongo Camp – 1.5 hours from the hotel, is a meeting
point for primates, and the base point for the Ecofac researchers
who will introduce to you the forest environment and the behaviour
to adopt when walking through the forest.
Accompanied by a guide and tracker, you shall set out on a two-day
search for mammals, and especially the big primates: gorillas,
chimpanzees and mandrills.

An
additional tour will take you to the Ololo Camp, at the centre of the
park and up the Offoué River. Beautiful pathways will allow you
to follow the primates, and especially the Cercopithecus solatus –
the sun-tailed monkey – endemic to this region.
You will then go down the Offoué River in a dugout canoe, surprising
the animals along the riverside as you go. It is not unusual to meet
a gorilla on the way.When back at the Lopé Hotel, you will visit
the site of the rock engravings while taking a lovely boat ride down
the Ogooué River in a dugout canoe.
